I saw him on one of his early tours at Artpark....dude was insane. I got the DVD live from the Beacon.....crazy good. Starts off with him playing in the subway with his guitar case open wearing a hat. People putting change in and telling him he's pretty good.

I like that he tours with real vintage bursts and doesn't treat them like they're too precious to be played. His stuff does get a little same-y for me after a while but I'm not the biggest blues fan so I can say I enjoy him more than most. Seems like a genuinely good human being, also, too, as well.

THIS. I was a big fan at first. Even met him at one of the Artpark shows. He is technical monster but I never find myself wanting to go grab one of his records to listen for enjoyment. Even now I feel like everything he is doing is a half assed tribute to something else with exceptional guitar playing.

Don't know if you're serious, but I do agree. I see his name being thrown around a lot lately. I've been back on a blues kick, and this dude does nothing for me. I don't understand how people like him get popular. He's got that Vegas Blues thing going on. Now...I haven't explored his entire catalog, so perhaps I'm missing something, but I don't care for the Vegas Blues. Of course, I've been digging into Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf (Hubert Sumlin on guitar), and some other stuff. But I tried me some Stevie Ray and he's too Vegas Blues for me, too. Haven't found much contemporary blues that I like.

It's like Ryan Adams. WTF is so appealing about that guy? He's no Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives, which is by far the best country music out there.

Yeah, I'm serious.

The guy can definitely move his hands and fingers real good. As far as the rest goes, meh.

I'm not familiar with all of his stuff, but if it's another white guy playing blue-rock on electric guitar - I'll pass.

However I did see an acoustic concert he did on Paladia (An Acoustic Evening at the Vienna Opera House) that I really liked.

Too polished, sterile and predictable for me but what do I know. I don't even have a guitar with all the strings on it right now.
