New Gear

Postby guitardude » January 8th, 2014, 3:03pm

Anybody get (or give) new stuff lately? Here's mine; I wasn't sure if I'd actually play it that much once I got it but I've been playing every day since I picked it up on Jan 1st. It's kind of like when I first started learning the guitar; where the more I learned, the more I wanted to play. Pretty psyched about it.

This is a Recording King banjo, Model RK-R20:

Sadly I have stopped acquiring gear at this point due to having two mortgages to pay.

Not really. I just needed a new acoustic for the duo shows with Stacey.

The nicest thing I've gotten in the last year was this Fishman acoustic PA. I've done the whole band through it via condenser mics (minus bass), though it is limited in that respect. It would probably be great for you acoustic duos. It has two channels, plus a few other inputs for random stuff like mp3 players or monitoring. It sounds fantastic for acoustic instruments, and if you have a preamp or mixer to put in front of it - you can easily run a bunch of instruments through it.

They are really nice. You can pick them up cheaper on ebay or craigslist.

1978 Ibanez Musician MC400. If I knew how to post pics I would.

Since I've been playing more guitar than bass of late, I got these here effects from Mojo Hand - awesome pedals/people.

The Rook is really nice overdrive combined with an EP preamp, and the Nebula is a pretty killer phaser.

Superlatives!

Thanks for sharing. I checked-out some YouTube demos and they make some stellar pedals. Did you ever mess with the Nebula IV and get close to early EVH phase sounds?

Sorry for totally missing this question - you can definitely get script-era EVH type phase sounds with the Nebula, that's really all I use it for - hacking my way through EVH riffs...

Thanks for the reply.

From what I gathered from the demos: the Nebula seems clean enough to use on a studio mix for some 70s mojo - which meant it could be too clean for early EVH. :D

Fender 400CE Flame. Crisp, articulate, awesome neck for bending strings. Love it.

Click on specs for details. If you're looking for a less expensive acoustic that sounds and plays great, check one out.
