What is it with musicians these days?

Postby big_dangerous_world » April 4th, 2014, 12:14pm

Is it just in Buffalo or does it happen all over where someone finally gets their own band together, playing the same old over played covers, and then suddenly think they are the best thing the world has ever seen? They go around telling everyone that they are jealous of them, Block their texts, emails and Facebook so that no one can rebutt their claims, has their co musician partner chime in when they should have never gotten involved and when they don't like the direction the discussion is going, calls your wife the "c" word and threatens to come over and "kick your ass"? Really? I guess you are really a class act. I bet you threaten to kick a bar owners ass when they cut you off. You think you are so great, go to NY or LA where you couldn't even lick the crap off the worst band's shoes! Welcome to Buffalo, land of cover bands and high level drama!

That sucks. If it makes you feel any better, I play in a cover band that's kinda shitty, but we'll admit that any day of the week. We feel quite lucky to even play at bars. Cover bands are nothing special.

Bullpucky. Aren't you like, really old, and a veteran of the '90s Buffalo original music scene?

I played in cover and original bands for 30 years but I was never full of myself and I would always treat fellow musicians with respect. Some people just don't get it.

I just was trying to explain this singular weirdo musician phenomena to a theatre owner.

Theatre folks have their quirks but don't go around claiming they are awesome basically because they have to audition for a new job every two or so months. When you don't get the role its harder to claim you are awesome I guess.

Maybe this behavior is a reflection of previously witnessed childish behavior by other musicians and people think they need to do this because others have.

Or their mother's didn't pay enough attention to them.

Thus concludes my amateur psychologist impersonation.

I respect guys who play in a shitty band and have a haggard annoying setlist but at least know it and have some fun with it. You can tell these guys and gals from a mile away....the bands that really take themselves really serious, like they are playing the House of Blues instead of Lockport by the electronic dart machine, are the bands I hate. These bands you can also tell a mile away.

and don't get my started on fucking soft tip darts.....!!!!!!

You can't take things too seriously when your playing The Ace Of Spades, and Billie Jean in the same setlist.

To be fair, "Mustang Sally" is easy to play, but hard to perfect.
