What do you mean by help? He's got some local bands that he really digs and I'm sure he his writing about them gives them some exposure. He also plays with a few different folks, though he doesn't write about the gigs he does.

I can't imagine showing up at Nietschzie's for an Aqueous show would really make anyone feel relevant; especially since it's a club he's been hanging and performing at for decades.

I know Jeff from Fredonia...great guy. Does his job well. The noion that a mention in the Gusto would help promote a band is silly at best. In this day and age of free social media, a band who can't promote itself shouldn't complain about 4 people showing up at their gigs on a thursday night.

Back in my day we had to flyer up telephone poles and hand out hand bills and sticker bathrooms. Had a great pic, i'll look for it and scan it. Our sticker on the bumper of a Buffalo Police car.

I though his piece about the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame this week was wonderful.

Biggest problem with JM is that he writes an article about Bruce Springsteen once a month, or compares every act he sees to Bruce Springsteen.

Weren't we taught in journalism class to write what we know?

I imagine varying points of reference for all writers can be a problem.

Guys, guys, guys... before we throw stones at Jeff Miers, let's remember that Buffalo used to be stuck with Tony Violanti. At least now someone who actually LISTENS to music writes about it.

Now we just need to work on theatre critics who actually have experience, knowledge and/or training in actual theatre.

Let's handle your aggressions (whilst hiding under a pseudonym) one at a time.

You may note, I commented that a recent piece by Jeff Miers was wonderful. In fact, I think he is a talented music writer.

Artvoice has a very knowledgeable theatre critic.

I did not alter your posts nor change your 'avatar' (which by the way, is neither yours nor an avatar).

The rest of your comments are a bit childish, don't you think?

Was there a post I'm missing somewhere above from a certain "lady" who has returned?

Hmm, I think YE hears enough noise tending his other endeavors.
