Re: How much is too much?
of course it varies by person, including size, gender, tolerance, remaining liver function, and exactly how sober they are when they're sober.
Maybe those people who don't get "impaired" are just always a little drunk so you don't notice it?
I can get by on 1 or 2 drinks in 5 hours, not feel intoxicated at all, and KNOW I'm safe to drive home. More than that, I've been "drinking". I tend to judge others by that same scale.. if I see you with a fresh drink in your hand every hour, I'm not getting into any vehicle you're driving. If I know you've had more than 2, I'm going to keep an eye on ya.

The resonant frequency of the clitoris is too low for the guitar players to take care of.

Same with the devil's lettuce. On the other hand, I've known people of all ages who suffer all the stereotypical negative consequences associated with consuming chemicals. I think with most things, looking for some convenient rule to use is a shortcut that will not serve anyone's interest. You have to know the individual and put their actions into the context of their life. The whole "rules" thing is how people both overreact, AND miss, or rationalize theirs or someone else's, problem.

This is from the "Institute For, oops I meant On, Alcohol Abuse": (That's where I went to College BTW!
)
13. What is a safe level of drinking?
For most adults, moderate alcohol use--up to two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women and older people--causes few if any problems. (One drink equals one 12-ounce bottle of beer or wine cooler, one 5-ounce glass of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof distilled spirits.)
Certain people should not drink at all, however:
Women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant
People who plan to drive or engage in other activities that require alertness and skill (such as driving a car)
People taking certain over-the-counter or prescription medications
People with medical conditions that can be made worse by drinking
Recovering alcoholics
People younger than age 21.

and what kind. salad isn't much of a help, but grease lining your stomach will slow down the effects. (speaking from personal experience here!)
still, the alcohol will get into your blood eventually, right?

Not judging anyone here, but isn't it kind of a sad statement that any one would care how much is too much. Sort of like.. if you have to ask that question, maybe you've already answered your own question?
I try not to drink when I gig.. and I'm not much of a drinker to begin with. If people buy the band shots, I pace myself and dillute them with lots of water in between. Some people might need a drink/shot before the gig to loosen up, I don't. You don't want to know what happens when I get loose!

Re: How much is too much?
I thought that the orig. question had to do with an unnamed 3rd party... not like a "how much do y'all think I should drink" sort of discussion.

I read into it that it was SM playing the role of the 3rd party or proverbial "friend" ... as in, " I have this friend...". And that's not som,e sort of dig, so don't go getting all pissy if I assumed that wrong SM. I'm trying to be more posi.
