2015 Beer/Spirits/Pub Thread.

Postby donkeypunch » February 16th, 2015, 2:08pm

I drank two growlers by myself on Valentine's Day...is that too much?. Not much of a stout guy but loved them.......

Sponge Candy Stout 6% from Resurgence..had this before, just great.

Chocolate/Cherry stout 8% from EBC...don't care for the chocolate covered cherries but the stout was fantastic.

I don't think you really save any money getting growlers but it's a nice change.

With growlers you can take home beer that is only offered in kegs.

Haven't had any Resurgence but their gimmicky beers sound unappealing and I've heard little positive talk about their regular stuff.

EBC is generally just ok.

I have given up all sugars or starches, so my palette has really become different from most Americans. Everything is too sweet and syrupy now and unfortunately most of the interesting new stouts are just too sweet for my taste. Although I love the initial taste you get from both the EBC Chocolate Cherry Stout and the Resurgence stouts, I can't have more than one.

I recently had a milk stout I liked a lot. Can't remember the brewery however.

I agree about the gimmicky beers. Don't need sponge candy stirred with a yam-bag stout.

Stouts - I like the imperials like Yeti. Brooklyn Chocolate is good as well.

Oh yes - Brooklyn Chocolate is pretty great! But haven't had it in a while. Who has it?

The Consumers in the falls had it on tap about two weeks ago.

That image is t coming up for me, and I've purposefully avoided their watermelon brew, but everything else had been really solid that I've had from them.

I've tried a couple of Black IPA's....not fan. It's like they take all that's good about stouts and IPA's and ruin those characteristics by combining them into one brew.

Did I mention how much I love Wolaver's Alta Gracia Porter? Love!
Next to that, I am a fan of Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout.
The sweeter the better fer me.
Still working on a jar of moonshine soaked cherries that I got for the holidays.
I took my annual month off from imbibing and now I'm..uh.. not.
