Which mic would you choose and why? A new contestant may enter the ring, but must list sell for $300.

Having heard none of them I am going to vote for the most ludicrous reason and may well regret the AKG becuase it was used by Roland to create COSM mic modelling and I own roland VS recorder. How's that for idiocy?

BTW- these mics werechosen out of the new Musician's Friend catalogue . . price are all $299.

I think I have used the Audio technica I loved the sound that I got from it BUT there was one major issue with it in that it was incredily sensitive and would pick up annyoingly loud converstionsfrom arcoss a room butin many sitiions this wouldn't be an issue.

though I haven't used many of that style condenser mics so the other may also have that problem

Lol. yup, I guess it is getting to be like that. Line up change. We are hoping to test drive a few songs at an open mic within two months. Thanks for asking.
AT 4040 is winning . . why? Is this one you folks own?

Deadbody- would a preamp had helped?

I have Shure KSM 44s and they are amazing. I would go with the 27 based on the durability of the 44s and the reliability and customer service of Shure.

As for the problem of hearing noise from across the room... IT'S A LARGE DIAPHRAGM CONDENSER!!!!!!! Of course it's gonna pick up background noise, you buy these for their sensitivity. The pad or a noise supressor might make a difference but lowereing the sensitivity of a mic like this is like pulling two of the pistons out of your car because it has too much power.

Thanks.

I used it with a pre-amp.

After thinking about it I have always had room noise problems with decent mics. So i was probably a little anal about it

Anyway as long as there nothing esle going on you should be ok

Now I understand the problems with the Presonus Preamp.

I look forward to the VNP and VNC in a few months.
